Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is ninjutsu? top

      A: Ninjutsu, which can be translated as "the art of stealth, endurance, or perseverence," is a Japanese martial art that traces back several hundred years into Japan's turbulent history. Predating Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Judo, and Aikido, the art of the ninja is comprised of unarmed combat, weapons, stealth, survival, camouflage, disguise, strategy, and a multitude of other self-protection skills. Unique body dynamics and strategies are used to defeat bigger, stronger, or faster opponents. Introduced to the west in the late 1970's, it quickly earned the nickname "the art of winning" for its flexible appoach to self-protection. Impact Ninjutsu teaches Ninjutsu based on the principles of the Bansenshukai, a historically verifiable Ninjutsu text compiled in 1676 by the ninja Yasutake Fujibayashi.

Q: How much does the program cost? top

      A: The program offers four different types of memberships:

  • Individual:
    monthly = $39.90
    yearly = $399.00
  • Business:
    monthly = $99.90
    yearly = $999.00
  • Q: What are the differences between membership types? top

          A: An individual membership is designed for a single user to the site, whereas a business membership allows a school to offer the program to all their current students. We monitor this by IP addresses associated with each username and password. An individual is allowed up to 5 different IP addresses. This allows for a home computer, laptop, work computer, etc. A business membership is allowed an almost unlimited amount of IP addresses for their students. The yearly memberships simply offer our members savings! They only charge for ten months out of the year. This is our way of showing our appreciation to those who show their support and dedication.

    Q: I run a martial arts school, how can impactninjutsu.com help my business? top

Impactninjutsu.com is an excellent source of supplemental information for any training curriculum. Here is an opportunity to offer ninjutsu along with any other program you currently have. Students are able to get ranked in a completely new and different system through your school. Many of our business members have their students watch our classes and then practice them later in a special class designed for more dedicated or proficient students. Don’t forget, the membership is tax deductible for your business. Also, with your students on our message board, your school will have internet exposure!! We will also place a banner for your school on our website. These are just a few of the great opportunities impactninjutsu.com offers your business!

    Q: What is included in the program? top

          A: The program is divided into weekly classes, katas and drills. Each week, you have access to a Tuesday and Thursday class. The previous weeks classes are also posted in case you missed a class or for your review. A weekly drill is available for you each week to incorporate into your training. One traditional kata is also covered per month. This kata is shown in its traditional context along with a more contemporary version so that we can see how the principles still apply to the 21st century. This means with each given week, you have access to 4 classes, 1 drill, and 1 kata PER kyu level. You have access to each kyu level the moment you sign-up!

    Q: How does the program work? top

          A: Within 24 hours of subscribing to the site, you will receive a username and password. Use this to login. Once you have logged in you will notice you have access to the “registered users” menu tabs. The first tab you will notice is the “Grand opening” tab. Select this before you begin watching the classes. This gives you information about the martial arts in general and ninjutsu in particular. The next tab is our “Bow-in” procedure. This is designed to let you bow-in, just as you would at another school, prior to beginning your training. After this, select the “Dynamic stretch” tab. This is the stretching routine done prior to starting every training session. It is designed to warm-up your body and get the blood flowing in order to prevent injury during training. Next, watch the appropriate class. Each class is approximately 10 to 25 minutes long. You are expected to train for at least 45 to 60 minutes on the material covered in each class. Finally, click on the “Static Stretch” tab. This is the routine done after each training session. This class is designed to provide a warm-down and increase your flexibility. Once you have completed your training session, you may choose to go to our message board. Each class is outlined in detail to prepare you for an upcoming class or to refresh your memory on previous classes. Each classes also has a “circle-up” thread which is designed for you to give feedback, ask questions, or make general comments. The message board makes the classes come alive by allowing constant interaction with other students and the Shidoshi.

          A: No. The only fee you pay is your monthly or annual membership tuition.

    Q: OK, I am interested in joining, but I have a concern. I already belong to a school and I certainly don't want to upset my instructor. By joining this site, I am becoming a member of another school. How can I join without creating an unwanted situation with my current instructor? top

          A: By no means was this program designed to replace your current training regiment. Our unique format, however, can enhance and supplement any type of martial training. For those without access to a school, this also provides them access to a dojo from anywhere in the world. The bottom line is that your membership belongs to you and you alone. You may choose to share impactninjutsu.com’s online dojo with your instructor and fellow students or you may simply keep it to yourself for your own personal training needs.

    Q: What if I join in the middle of the program? top

          A: Each kyu contains approximately 36 classes. These classes are on a constant rotation. This means if you can start at any point and see each class until you reach the class with which you started. The classes are not designed to start at any one specific point. Instead, they are merely designed to present all the material needed in each kyu level. This means you may start at any time and begin your training at any point. Also, each kyu is available the instant you sign-up, which means you may start at a higher kyu if you so choose.

    Q: Is this all I need to become good at ninjutsu? top

          A: Impactninjutsu.com provides you with all the information and interactivity necessary to learn the technical aspects of Bansenshukai ninjutsu. However, you will need a responsible partner to physically train with. Regular practice with responsible partners will greatly increase retention of the techniques and instruction. Shidoshi suggests you train for at least 45 to 60 minutes per class to attain proficiency with the principles covered.

    Q: With so many books and instructional dvd's out there; why subscribe to impactninjutsu.com's online dojo? top

          A: Let me just emphasize four main points to this question: 1. Cost efficiency: Books and dvd’s can be a wonderful source of information. This information, however, does not change. If you seek additional information, you must buy another book or dvd. This can become expensive to establish and build a personal library. With impactninjutsu.com’s online dojo, you have access to all kyu level classes, monthly katas and drills. These classes are updated each week. Every kyu offers a minimum of four 10-25 minute classes, a monthly kata and a drill per week. When multiplied by all kyu levels with four weeks per month, the savings begin to pile up! 2. Interactivity: Unfortunately, books and dvd’s do not offer any type of interaction with the instructor. At impactninjutsu.com, each class is outlined and discussed on our message board. You may ask questions or simply discuss each class with Shidoshi or other members. 3. Community: Impactninjutsu.com’s message board offers a community experience through interaction with other members. Boards cover a wide range of topics from class discussions, resources for additional skills, threads from other black belts on higher concepts and principles, and a tea house to simply chat with other students. These shared experiences with others from around the globe makes for a unique communal and dojo experience. 4. Unique training: Ninjutsu is different than most martial systems because of its additional training aspects such as stealth, weaponry, survival techniques, and much more. It also has many unique philosophies such as using the godai to fight in accordance with your emotional state. Impactninjutsu.com goes a little further. While most ninjutsu school focus on “traditional” ninjutsu concepts, we have attempted to take these principles and update them to a contemporary society. We have included boxing principles, jiu-jutsu principles along with recognizing the difference between a cage match and a fight for your life. Our curriculum was designed from the ground up to provide a useful and practical system for today’s day and age.

    Q: Does my membership allow me to download clips? top

          A: No. However, the classes are on a constant rotation, so if you miss a class, you can simply wait for it to recycle. If you really enjoyed a class and want to watch it at your leisure, all classes are available for purchase on dvd.

    Q: What style do you teach and what type of techniques should I expect? top

          A: We teach Bansenshukai Ninjutsu. This system is based on the principles found in the Bansenshukai text with an emphasis on 21st century application. The style includes historical foundations and influences; however, is primarily concerned interpreting the historical into the modern. Principles for ninjutsu are timeless, but techniques must change due to changes in society and forms of combat. For example, historically the ninja would use swords, however, the Bansenshukai chooses to focus more on firearms, since this could be considered the modern day equivalent.

    Q: Can I earn Bansenshukai ninjutsu rank through the online dojo? top

          A: Yes, but no one is required to test. You may test if you choose at your leisure. You will not be denied any access to any information if you do not choose to test. Testing, however, will give you official rank in Bansenshukai ninjutsu.

    Q: Will I ever have to come to your dojo? top

          A: No. Impactninjutsu.com is designed to meet all your training needs in an online format. There will never be a need to travel to my dojo for any reason. We are planning, however, to have annual training that you may attend to meet and train with Shidoshi and the rest of the instructors.

    Q: Do you train past black belt? top

          A: Absolutely. You will be able to earn your black belt if you choose through our curriculum. If you choose to continue your training, dan level courses will be offered to you.

    Q: Do I need a high-speed internet provider? top

          A: Yes. These classes are designed to be viewed through a broadband provider (DSL or cable). They are not designed to be used with a dial-up connection.

    Q: What kind of technical support can I expect? top

          A: Shidoshi and Warren Corder are your technical support. We do not outsource any type of agency to deal with problems you may run across. You may talk to us with any problem you may have through the message board and we will work tirelessly to resolve any issues as promptly as possible.

    Q: What if my video will not load? top

          A: Try refreshing your screen by hitting the refresh button on your browser or hitting the F5 key on your keyboard and make sure your computer is updated to the current flash player. To play the movie, you must have the Adobe Flash 9 Player. If you try to play the movie and see only a black box or blank screen, you probably don't have the Player. You can download it here.
    NOTE: Please use a broadband connection (cable or DSL) for viewing these videos. They are NOT designed for dial-up!
