I am overwhelmed with information.  It is great though.  Great looking classes, and great attitude.  I am having a tough time figuring out where and what to start with though.  Kind of tough for us noobies.  I don't know what I have missed in the curriculum outline.  I want to follow and get caught up, and I know each thing builds off another.  There are 10-12 classes on the site right now, and I just want to get started right.

Any class on the Gi, tying the obi, or other attire used?

Go to the Grand opening navigation button under the registered users menu.  This gives you a brief summary on the basics.

Use the curriculum outline in the message board and match the classes to the outline.  This should help.  We just jumped right in so don't worry about what you should learn first, second, third and so forth.  We'll have the previous classes up for sale here soon and that will give you an idea of what you've missed.  But trust me.  You'll be fine.

Thanks.  I feel dumb for overlooking that Grand opening Welcome video ( I jumped right to the classes)  Embarrassed.  Watching that answered most of my questions.

Don't feel too bad, I also jumped into the classes first. At least you are both honest and eager to learn, I admire that from a fellow student.  Lips Sealed

These reviews are great! I've gotten a few practices under my belt, and they are feeling better. The first was awkward, the next felt MUCH better. I'm wondering if you have any suggestions as to how to proceed in regards to 10th Kyu. Obviously I missed many of the classes. Should I stay focused on practicing the reviews (I think the reviews and the site will be adequate to get the info I need), or should I continue with the current classes? Then... how will that affect a possible belt test? I'm probably over-thinking this, but any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks

Well, this will be totally up to you.  When we move on to 9th kyu you will have three options.  Go to 9th kyu with us, stay at mukyu as the classes will recycle, or do both.  Remember, each kyu level will be its own membership so you must take that into consideration.  I will say this, I would find it hard for someone to be able to pass my test by only watching the review classes, but everyone learns differently as well.  Remember, the mind will learn much faster than the body and if you haven't put in the months of training time, I will be able to see that in your test.  Hope this helps.

How will I know when I'm ready to pass the scroll test?

I cannot give you an exact answer to this.  Each person will be different.  You should be confident and comfortable with the techniques.  Your uke should be feeling pain and discomfort when you apply them and you should be able to apply them consistently.  The bottom line, is that if you are getting the techniques to work, you are ready to test.  If not, practice until they are comfortable to perform.
